Memorial Plaque Purchase Order

Yizkor

Community Synagogue helps you to recall family and loved ones who have died. If you would like to remember your loved ones with the Jewish tradition of yahrzeit, please fill out the form below. This will help us create the redesigned Memory Book that we will use on Yom Kippur.

According to Jewish tradition a mourner is someone who is the son, daughter, sister, brother, mother, father or spouse of the deceased. However, in today’s society, where the concept of family extends to many different relationships, it is also appropriate to say Kaddish for whomever one chooses. Therefore, please feel free to add names of those for whom you feel a close affinity but who might not be direct relatives.

One way to make a loved one’s memory “be for a blessing” is to give tzedakah. In Jewish tradition, we often refer to the number “18” or “chai” which means “life” when remembering happy and sad events. Contributions in multiples of 18 express our commitment to the values and the ideals of those we remember at this season. Of course, a gift of any amount will be gratefully received with your list.

Memorial Plaques

You may also wish to inscribe you loved ones names on a Memorial Plaque located in our sanctuary. An inscription on a plaque ensures that your loved one’s name will be read on the Shabbat on or following their yahrzeit date in perpetuity. If you wish to purchase a memorial plaque, please use the form below. If you have any questions, please call clergy assistant Jon Rekedal at 914-967-6262 or clergyassistant@comsynrye.org.

Purchase a plaque for $750 for the commemoration of the following departed loved one. Plaques display English name and English & Hebrew date of death.
